The Padma Vibhushan was conferred on Dr Prathap C Reddy, the chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group. The award also acknowledges the company’s efforts to improve the quality of life for millions of people. The Padma Awardees for 2010 were announced by the Centre and will be conferred by President Pratibha Patil during March or April. The list includes 14 businessmen and industrialists from across the country. C P Krishnan Nair and Vardhman Group chairman Pratap Chandra Reddy are also recipients.

Dr. Prathap C Reddy, the chairman of Apollo Hospital, was also awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honor, for exemplary contributions to the healthcare sector. In 2011, Dr. Reddy was also awarded the Alexandria – Frost & Sullivan 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award in the Healthcare Sector. The hospital was also recently recognized for its healthcare retail operations by Healthcare Retail Company of the Year and the Padma Bhushan was presented to Dr. M.K. Mani and Dr. R.
